TruthScape Special Reports - RuneScape News and Reviews
Life is all about change, and so
is RuneScape! As the game evolves, new content is introduced, modifications
are made to rules and gameplay, and new issues come up that are of interest
to the RuneScape community. They are usually of interest to me too,
since Im also a player! I have decided to create this section
for special reports that I will be writing to keep you informed
about news related to the game, as well as to provide my analysis and
editorial commentary on RuneScape game and community issues.
There are currently seven special
reports, which I have listed below in the order of their initial publication:
The Godsword - RuneScapes Best Weapon
Ever? (September 15, 2007): My first report is about the new godsword,
RuneScapes latest and arguably greatest weapon. I introduce the
godsword to you, tell you how to get it as a drop or buy it, describe
its special effects, compare it to other weapons, and much more.
Why the ZMI Ourania Altar Will Change How
You Runecraft (September 19, 2007): This report is on the new ZMI
Ourania altar, which promises to revolutionize the Runecrafting skill.
It lets you craft runes above your Runecrafting leveleven bloods
and souls!and even gives you more XP than traditional crafting.
I tell you everything about it, show you how to use it in the most efficient
way possible, and contrast it to more conventional crafting methods
so you can decide if its for you.
Understanding the RuneScape Assist System
(November 6, 2007): The new Assist System provides a convenient
way to let higher-level players accomplish what was formerly done using
risky trust trades, plus a lot more. I tell you how the system works,
what its restrictions and limitations are, and how it operates with
each of the skills it supports. The report includes a FAQ, a list of
dispelled myths and much more.
RuneScape World 2 Trading Survival Guide (November
8, 2007): The huge marketplace in the town of Falador on World 2
is the largest, busiest place for buying, selling and trading items
in RuneScape. It can be an exciting place, but also a chaotic one, due
to hundreds of people all trying to find others to trade with. This
survival guide explains what World 2 and the Fally market are about,
tells you when to use it and when to avoid it, and how to take best
advantage of it without going crazy. The guide also features the largest,
most detailed trading location map of World 2 Fally ever published.
Dueling Tournaments - Not Ready for Prime
Time (November 24, 2007): RuneScapes newest minigame expands
the idea of dueling from a one-on-one affair to a full-fledged tournament
of up to 64 combatants. The idea behind dueling tournaments is an excellent
one, and the feature has a great deal of potential. Unfortunately, though,
it has been hamstrung by a host of implementation problems that highlight
major weaknesses in Jagexs development and QA processes.
Understanding and Surviving the RuneScape
Market Crash of 2007 (December 6, 2007): Over the last few weeks
the overall market prices of most items in RuneScape have dropped dramatically,
leading to disappointment, frustration and anger on the part of many
players. In this special report, I shed light on what is really happening
in the exconomy, explain the many reasons why the price drops have occurred,
andmost importantlytell you how you can make the best of
the situation.
RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card
(December 30, 2007): As 2007 draws to a close, its time to
reflect on the year gone by, which featured many excellent new features,
some not-so-wonderful updates, critical game and policy changes, and
no small amount of controversy. Many believe that the year will ultimately
be viewed as having been a pivotal one in the evolution of RuneScape.
In this lengthy special report, I take a detailed look at the good,
the bad and the ugly of RuneScape in 2007.
