Like most RuneScape skills, Herblore is rather repetitive: once you have all the ingredients, all that is left to do is to grind out those potions—literally, to some extent. J There’s nothing fun about combining vials and herbs and seconds, so you just want to get them done as fast as possible so you can get your XP quickly and move on to something else. And since you have to process so many herbs and make such a large number of potions in training the skill, having efficient methods matters: saving even one second per potion can quickly add up.

In this very practical section, I’ll share with you my best methods for making Herblore products as efficiently as possible. I cover how to fill vials, clean herbs, grind seconds, make potions, combine potions into four-dose versions, and even make herb tar for your favorite pet salamander. I also include results of my own tests, which will tell you how long it takes to perform various activities, and so how much you can get done per hour.

Note that you will do most of your Herblore work at a bank, and I recommend using one that can be opened with a single click. Doing this saves you time compared to using banks where you must always right-click and then select the “Bank” option. The two most convenient single-click banks are the chest at Castle Wars—my favorite—and the Culinaromancer’s chest in the basement of Lumbridge Castle.
