I’ve had people tell me that I am too concerned with the monetary aspects of skills, and that may be true. I actually have a fair bit of money and can afford to train skills at a loss if I want to—but I don’t want to! From where I sit, there is really no challenge in training a skill at a huge loss, because anyone can do that if they have the money. I find it far more satisfying to discover ways of training where I lose only a little, or even make money. And at the same time, I recognize that not everyone has a lot of cash, and for them, these smarter methods are a necessity.

But training skills efficiently when it comes to money requires that we first understand the economics of skills, and that’s what this section of the site is about. The first two topics discuss the underlying issues associated with skill moneymaking; reading them will help you understand what profit and loss really mean, and why some skills are profitable while others aren’t. I then go through all of RuneScape’s non-combat and combat skills and explain how well suited each is to earning money.
