Vinesweeper Requirements, Recommendations and Minigame Safety Getting Started with Vinesweeper

As I mentioned in the introductory section of this guide, the fact that “Vinesweeper” rhymes with “Minesweeper” is no coincidence—the two games have many similarities, which anyone who has played the latter game will immediately recognize. If you’ve never seen Minesweeper before, though, that’s no problem—this section will tell you everything you need to know to play Vinesweeper. And even if you’re a Minesweeper expert, you’ll want to peruse this section anyway, because there are some important differences between that classic and Jagex’s adaptation of it.

I’ll start—where else?—by telling you how to get started with the minigame, and by giving you a brief tour of Winkin’s Farm and the Vinesweeper playing field. I’ll then explain key game mechanics, including how and when to dig, flag and inspect holes. I’ll also tell you how to deal with those pesky rabbits and the most efficient way of retrieving flags after you’ve used them.

Note that this section sets the stage for the one that follows, which will explain to you in more detail how to figure out where seeds are on the playing field.
