Transforming Regular Potions into Barbarian Mix Potions

In my overview of barbarian mix potions, I mentioned that they aren’t terribly popular, and one reason is because they are rather annoying to make. There are three reasons why most players hate making them:

  • When you make most potions, they have three doses in a vial, but barbarian mixes require 2-dose potions.

  • There is no “Make All” function, so you have to click multiple times for each potion you make.

  • Both components (the potion and roe or caviar) have left-click options to drink/eat them, so you have to right-click everything, and there’s always a chance of wasting something by misclicking.

Fortunately, there are a couple of tricks we can use to make fabricating these potions at least somewhat manageable. I will provide descriptions for making mixes from 2-dose, 3-dose and 4-dose potions—most players will start with the 3-dose or 4-dose versions, but some may have already split their potions into 2-dose vials.

Before beginning any of these methods, go to a one-click bank like Castle Wars and clear your inventory. Make sure the roe or caviar you’ll be using is near the potions you’re mixing in your bank, and if starting from 3-dose or 4-dose, move your stack of empty vials nearby as well.

Making Barbarian Mixes from Two-Dose Potions

This is the simplest method, since the potions are already in the form needed:

  1. Right-click the stack of roe or caviar and choose “Withdraw 10” to take out 10 of them. Then click the stack in your bank four more times to withdraw a total of 14.

  2. Right-click the 2-dose potions you want to combine and choose “Withdraw All” to take out 14.

  3. Drag one of the roe or caviar so it is in the bottom right inventory slot.

  4. Now, put your mouse in the center of the roe or caviar you just moved to the bottom right corner, right-click it and select “Use”. If your mouse was right in the center when you right-clicked, you don’t have to move the mouse to select the “Use” option, so you can effectively right-click and then left-click immediately.

  5. Slide the mouse one slot to the left to click the last 2-dose potion. The potion you clicked will be unchanged, but one of the other roe/caviar and potion combinations will be combined into a barbarian mix. This is shown in Figure 160.

  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all of the mixes are made.

  7. Bank the mixes and repeat the process as needed.

This takes about 30 seconds, so you can mix about 1,680 per hour.

Figure 160: Making Barbarian Mixes from 2-Dose Potions

If you already have 2-dose potions, making barbarian mixes is quite easy. The key is to move one roe or caviar to the bottom right corner where it can be easily right-clicked and “used” on the potion next to it.

You will occasionally misclick and either drop the roe/caviar on the ground or eat it. Annoying, but just pick it up or replace it from your bank and carry on.

Making Barbarian Mixes from Three-Dose Potions

This is the most complex method because you want to end up with 14 2-dose potions, but 3 doesn’t divide evenly into 28. That’s okay, it’s still quite doable once you get the hang of it. Here are the steps:

  1. Right-click the stack of roe or caviar and choose “Withdraw 10” to take out 10 of them. Then click the stack in your bank three more times to withdraw a total of 13.

  2. Right-click the 3-dose potions you want to combine and choose “Withdraw 10”.

  3. Right-click the empty vials and withdraw 5.

  4. Right-click one of the 3-dose potions and click another one next to it, changing it into a 2-dose and a 4-dose. Repeat for the others so you now have five 2-dose and five 4-dose potions.

  5. Left-click the empty vial in the bottom right corner, then left-click the last 4-dose potion in your inventory. This will cause one of the other empty vials and 4-dose potions to turn into a pair of 2-dose potions. Repeat until you have 15 2-dose potions.

  6. Drag one of the roe or caviar so it is in the bottom right inventory slot.

  7. Combine the roe or caviar with the 2-dose potions as specified above: put your mouse in the middle of the roe or caviar you just moved to the bottom right corner, right-click it and select “Use”, then slide your mouse to the left to click the 2-dose potion there. One of the roe/caviar and potions will be combined into a barbarian mix.

  8. Repeat step 7 until all of the mixes are made. You will have two 2-dose potions left over.

  9. Bank the mixes and the leftover 2-dose potions and repeat the process as needed.

After doing this seven times you will have 14 of the extra 2-dose potions in the bank; use the 2-dose method to use them up.

This takes about 50 seconds and makes 13 mixes, so you can make a little over 900 per hour—yep, it’s much slower. And there’s even more chance of misclicking.

Making Barbarian Mixes from Four-Dose Potions

This is easier than starting with 3-dose potions, since 2 obviously divides into 4 evenly—of course, you have to already have the 4-dose pots to begin with! Assuming you do, here’s the deal:

  1. Right-click the stack of roe or caviar and choose “Withdraw 10” to take out 10 of them. Then click the stack in your bank four more times to withdraw a total of 14.

  2. Right-click the 4-dose potions you want to combine and choose “Withdraw 5”, then click them twice more to take out a total of 7.

  3. Right-click the empty vials and choose “Withdraw 10” or “Withdraw All” to get 7.

  4. Left-click the empty vial in the bottom right corner, then left-click the last 4-dose potion in your inventory. This will cause one of the other empty vials and 4-dose potions to turn into a pair of 2-dose potions. Repeat six times until you have 14 2-dose potions.

  5. Drag one of the roe or caviar so it is in the bottom right inventory slot.

  6. Combine the roe or caviar with the 2-dose potions as specified in the prior sections: put your mouse in the middle of the roe or caviar you just moved to the bottom right corner, right-click it and select “Use”, then slide your mouse to the left to click the 2-dose potion there. The potion you clicked will be unchanged, but one of the roe/caviar and potion will be combined into a barbarian mix.

  7. Repeat step 6 until all of the mixes are made.

  8. Bank the mixes and repeat.

This method takes 45 seconds to make 14 mixes, allowing you to create about 1,100 mixes per hour.
