The TruthScape Glossary of RuneScape Terms and Slang - R [ R: 1. Rune, usually referring to the metal or items made from it. 2. Short for red. [ R2H: Rune two-handed sword. [ Rare: This term primarily refers to a set of discontinued items that were made available only in the first few years that RuneScape was played. Most of the items were given away for fun in the early days by Jagex on holidays, but the company stopped the practice when the game grew and players started trading them for large amounts of gold. They are now highly sought after and extremely expensive. Rare items include the Party Hat, Halloween Mask, Easter Egg, Santa Hat and Disk of Returning. [ RC / RCing: Runecrafting. [ Random: Random event. [ Random Event: A challenge or puzzle that a player must solve to continue playing the game. These are so named because they appear randomly, though they are not as random as some believe. Jagex implemented them both to help combat bots (automated players, which are against the rules) and to spice up repetitive parts of the game. Notoriously despised by most players. [ Range: 1. The Ranged skill. 2. A stove used for cooking. [ Ranged: The combat skill that encompasses distance (ranged) attacks using bows, crossbows, throwing knives and so forth. [ Recipe for Disaster: The longest and most complicated quest in RuneScape, released as a ten-part epic to honor the game reaching the milestone of 100 quests. [ Red / Reds: 1. Red dragons. 2. Red dragonhide items. 3. A red Party Hat. 4. A red Halloween Mask. [ RFD: Recipe for Disaster. [ Ring of Life: An enchanted diamond ring, that when worn, gives a chance of saving a character from dying. Specifically, it will teleport the character away from harm if he or she is reduced to less than 10% of total hitpoints but is not killed outright. [ Ring of Wealth: An enchanted dragonstone ring that is supposed to increase the chances of getting a rare drop from monsters. Somewhat controversial in that many players believe it has little or no effect. [ RL: Real life. Describes a person, object, place or event outside the game. [ Robin: Robin hood hat. [ Robin Hood Hat: A relatively rare hat obtained randomly from treasure trails that gives high Ranged bonuses. [ ROFL: Rolling on the floor laughing. [ ROFLMAO: Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off. [ ROL: Ring of Life. [ ROW: Ring of Wealth. [ RSC: RuneScape Classic. This was the original version of RuneScape, replaced by the current version (which is sometimes called RuneScape 2.) [ Rune: 1. A turquoise colored metal that is the highest level (strongest and most valuable) of the regular minable and smithable RuneScape metals (above adamant). It is used to make armor, weapons, arrows and so forth. 2. See Runes. [ Runes: Any of the small round disks that are used as a source of magical energy for RuneScape spells; they can be purchased, obtained as a monster drop, or created from rune essence or pure essence using the Runecrafting skill. [ Rune Essence: The raw material from which runes are made using the runecrafting skill. Regular essence can only be used to make the basic runes craftable on non-member worlds; contrast to Pure Essence. [ Runecrafting: A skill that lets players create their own runes for use in magic spells.
