The Godsword - Assembling the Sword Blade and Attaching and Swapping Hilts If you are brave enough, skilled enough and lucky enough, you can get all the parts you need for a godsword from the god wars dungeon. You will then need to combine these parts in order to get a usable weapon. I will now show you exactly how to do this. The first step to creating a godsword is to recreate the godsword blade from its shards. This is done by smithing together Godsword shard 1, Godsword shard 2 and Godsword shard 3. Assembling the blade requires a minimum Smithing level of 80. If you have the appropriate Smithing level, here are the steps you follow to forge the blade:
You receive 200 Smithing experience for recreating the blade.
There seems to be some sort of bug or design problem associated with forging blades that you may need to watch out for. If you try to build a blade with more than three shards in your inventory, under certain conditions the game will combine these into two partially complete blades instead of one full blade and an extra shard. This can occur even if for the second step you use the partially complete blade on the anvil! For example, if you have Shards 1, 2 and 3 plus an extra Shard 1 in your inventory, and you use Shard 1 on the anvil, you will get a combined Shard1+2 the first time. But if you do it again, youll end up with a combined Shard1+2 and a combined Shard 1+3. The solution is simple, if you know about the problem: leave extra shards in the bank when forging a blade. Once you have a godsword blade and one of the four god hilts, creating a full godsword is easy. With a blade and a hilt in your inventory, simply use one on the other. They will combine into a godsword of the type appropriate to the hilt used. Swapping hilts is just as easy. Start by disassembling the godsword: simply unwield the sword, right-click it and select Dismantle (god name) godsword where (god name) is one of Armadyl, Bandos, Saradomin or Zamorak (as in Figure 17). You will then have a blade and hilt once more. Attach the blade to a different hilt and you have a new godsword of that type.
You can swap hilts as much as you want, at any time. Also note that while 80 Smithing is required to forge the blade, there is no Smithing requirement for attaching or swapping hilts.
