The GodSword - Bottom Line, Should You Get One? Now that we have read all about the godsword and how it works, and had the chance to consider its pros and cons compared to other weapons, we come down to the real bottom line: should you get a godsword? My usual answer to this sort of question would be that all depends but this time I will be a bit less vague. My bottom line on the godsword is yes, you should get oneif you can afford it. The godsword is not the whip annihilator that some people claim it to be, and its certainly the case that you can continue in your RuneScape career without ever buying one. On the other hand, it is a really excellent piece of equipment that can enable you to win many battles faster or more easily. Perhaps more important than that, its fun. Three-hitting Ahrim in the Barrows or landing a 60 on a dragon can be very satisfying, and the priceless reactions when you heal during a no-food duel or freeze someone with a sword blow in Castle Warsor they see you coming and scream while trying to run away, like in Figure 25well, thats what gaming is all about.
So what it all boils down to, really, is skill, luck and moneyarguably the three biggest factors of success in RuneScape. If you are skilled and lucky you may be able to get your own godsword by fighting bosses for a hilt drop (the blade is cheap and easy to get afterwards.) Otherwise, what you are going to need is lots and lots of money. If you have it, then the godsword is a fun place to spend itcertainly better than wasting it on a silly hat that has no use in the game whatsoever. A couple of caveats, though, before you break open the piggybank. First, make sure that you can really afford the swordselling every piece of gear you own to get a godsword is probably unwise. Also be sure that you wont be kicking yourself if it goes down in value over time. Most items in the game do devalue eventually, as more of them enter play or other alternatives are introduced. Really though, if you are buying it to use (as opposed to merchanting it) the price fluctuations dont mean anything. Just use the sword and enjoy it. Finally, as I mentioned earlier, the godsword is a very high profile item, so if you walk around with one wielded, you should expect to get lots of attentionsome of it good, and some of it not so good. I get plenty of nice sword comments and find myself saying ty a lot. Other people want to ask questions and I try to answer them when I can. On the other hand, some folks can really be annoying pests, following you around and harassing you, trying to buy the sword even after you say its not for sale, etc. Some will see the sword and assume that you are rich and so you would be a good target for begging. This can all be handled, but its certainly an issue. If you do want to get a godsword, which one should you get? This again comes down to money and how you play. If you primarily fight monsters, the Saradomin godsword is the best, period, but it is expensive and rare. The Armadyl is also good for monster fighting (just as expensive though less rare) and the Bandos is a somewhat more affordable alternative. The Zamorak godswords special is not of much use for monster fighting, though remember again that the special is only a minor part of combat and it is still a godsword. If you are mainly a PvP player, the Armadyl or Saradomin swords are the ones you want. The Bandos can also be very effective, especially in situations where the opponent is not expecting it. The Zamorak godsword is useful for PKing and in Castle Wars, but not so much in the duel arena. Now you know all there is to know about the cool new godsword. Where you go next is up to you; if you can afford a godsword, I say go for it and have some fun hitting those big hits! J
