Analysis

Well, it’s not too hard to figure out what item to lead off my discussion with this week! Why did the Zammy godsword go up by almost 60%? Well, to some extent it is simply because Jagex decided, for whatever reason, to actually let the item freely trade—its price has been secretly restricted just like many other high ticket items. Once the item started moving, I think there was a lot of herd mentality, with people jumping on the bandwagon and merchants contributing to the excitement. I’d expect to see this correct back down soon enough.

Other big winners this week are a bit more of a mystery. Why the sudden demand for super weapon poison? Ya got me. Energy potions continue to increase in value, as they have for quite some time now, but orange seeds? No idea. J

The item losers are dominated by maging gear; this is mostly a correction from the big run-up in prices these items have had since Fist of Guthix came out. Mithril ore dropped back after recovering from its collapse when the Stronghold of Player Safety came out.

Herblore continues to be the best performing of the skills, going up another 4% this week. Prayer affordability benefitted from dropping bone prices, while the fall in blood runes was a help to mages. On the flip side, Runecrafting was hurt by the rise in essence prices as a result of interest in the new altar, and Barrows took a big hit from the fall in blood prices as well as several sets.
