TWIRP Weekly Winners and Losers (2008/03/31) In this section of the weekly TWIRP report I list the biggest winners and losers of the week, meaning the items and indexes that gained and lost the most on a percentage basis. If you are not familiar with TWIRP please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide. Top ten item winners of the week:

Last week I said that the Sara brew market came back to earththis week it crashed into it, with Sara brews themselves and both major components leading the list of losing items. If you needed any more proof of my thesis that the GEs price controls create big, long-lasting pricing bubbles, there it is. Amusingly, in the same week that toadflax is the biggest loser, toadflax seeds are the biggest gainer. I believe this is mostly another GE-related relic, with seeds lagging behind the herbs, combined with them having been very cheap before. Most of the other items in the winners list are equipment items participating in the big price spike I mentioned in the overview. Many of these had been driven down to historically low prices in preceding weeks, and so were also correcting. One particularly interesting item here is the obsidian cape, which Ive never seen make such a big move beforeapparently theres a rumor that obsidian drops have been nerfed, and whether thats true or not, the rumor alone is enough to push up prices. Some interesting index gainers this week, especially two minigames that had previously seen big drops: Barrows and the Mage Training Arena. Either players or investors have found some renewed interest in infinity robes and other MTA gear, while players have been buying Barrows sets likely in anticipation of Summoning. All five index losers were affordability measures, which really tells the tale of this week nicely. Its worth noting, however, that the cost increases were mostly related to equipmentmany supply costs actually went down this week.
