Analysis

I’m sure some of you will be rather confused at seeing some of the items on these lists—potatoes are the big winner and bronze bars the big loser? Well, most of these entries are here due to either Summoning or Grand Exchange changes.

The introduction of Summoning caused many items that are used as secondary ingredients in pouches to shoot up in value, and many of those corrected this week. Four of the ten item losers are in this category. Other Summoning items are still quite high in price but are dropping, so expect to see more of them on next week’s “loser list”.

Potatoes are an item that is an essential ingredient in “alternative” foods, but that Jagex had stupidly put a price ceiling on; that was relaxed this week, and they shot up in price. The same goes for the Construction-related items like planks and bricks. Other items continue to show erratic behavior as a result of the GE price controls, like marrentills, which go limit up for days on end and then limit down—price manipulators are having a field day with this stuff.

In terms of indexes, Miscellania finally reversed some recent steep declines, led mostly by a 22.9% increase in the price of flax. The skills providing “stuff” for monster killers all did expectedly well, while drop indexes were hurt by a glut of supply. Particularly noteworthy is that uncut gems are at the lowest prices I’ve ever seen... and this will likely continue for a while.
