TWIRP Skill Indexes Report and Analysis (2008/03/10)

This section of the report highlights the weekly results for the skill-based indexes. There are two different types of indexes tracked here: composite indexes broken down by level (which include all skills), and indexes by skill type (which include all levels). For more details on these indexes, please see TWIRP Skill Indexes; if you are not familiar with TWIRP as a whole, please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide before proceeding.

Skill Indexes by Level

Skill Composite Yield (Low-Level) [TWIRP-S(l)]: 97.2 +0.3% p
Skill Composite Yield (Mid-Level) [TWIRP-S(m)]: 98.4 -0.2% q
Skill Composite Yield (High-Level) [TWIRP-S(h)]: 100.3 +0.9% p

An interesting pattern this week, with high-level and low-level skillers doing better than mid-level ones. I believe that one contributing factor to this result is that monkfish went down in price—they had hit highs the week before—while sharks went up due to boss hunters.

Skill Indexes by Type

Construction Affordability (TWIRP-S-CONa): 86.9 +1.5% p
Cooking Yield (TWIRP-S-COOKy): 85.4 +1.4% p
Crafting Yield (TWIRP-S-CRFTy): 101.4 -0.7% q
Farming Yield (TWIRP-S-FARMy): 114.6 +2.0% p
Firemaking Affordability (TWIRP-S-FMa): 112.1 +1.5% p
Fishing Income (TWIRP-S-FISHi): 103.7 -3.6% q
Fletching Yield (TWIRP-S-FLTy): 99.8 -0.4% q
Herblore Yield (TWIRP-S-HERBy): 115.4 +0.1% p
Hunter Income (TWIRP-S-HUNTi): 105.9 -1.3% q
Magic Affordability (TWIRP-S-MAGICa): 101.1 +0.2% p
Mining Income (TWIRP-S-MNGi): 97.4 -1.1% q
Prayer Affordability (TWIRP-C-PRAYa): 112.7 +1.4% p
Runecrafting Yield (TWIRP-S-RCy): 90.9 +1.6% p
Slayer Yield (TWIRP-C-SLAYy): 86.8 -2.2% q
Smithing Yield (TWIRP-S-SMITy): 99.3 +0.7% p
Thieving Income (TWIRP-S-THVi): 92.2 +0.5% p
Woodcutting Income (TWIRP-S-WCi): 89.7 +0.3% p

If it seems like skillers do better on alternate weeks, well, that has indeed been the trend over the last month. There were no big winners this week, but skills on the whole steadily improved. Fishing and Slayer are the notable outliers; Fishing basically corrected after strong gains earlier, while Slayer is being affected by rising combat supply prices.
