TWIRP Skill Indexes Report and Analysis (2008/02/18)

This section of the report highlights the weekly results for the skill-based indexes. There are two different types of indexes tracked here: composite indexes broken down by level (which include all skills), and indexes by skill type (which include all levels). For more details on these indexes, please see TWIRP Skill Indexes; if you are not familiar with TWIRP as a whole, please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide before proceeding.

Skill Indexes by Level

Skill Composite Yield (Low-Level) [TWIRP-S(l)]: 95.9 -2.2% q
Skill Composite Yield (Mid-Level) [TWIRP-S(m)]: 97.6 +0.1% p
Skill Composite Yield (High-Level) [TWIRP-S(h)]: 99.3 +0.7% p

Skillers overall were neutral this week, but high-levels did a lot better than low-levels. I don’t really know of any particular reason for this.

Skill Indexes by Type

Construction Affordability (TWIRP-S-CONa): 85.8 -6.1% qq
Cooking Yield (TWIRP-S-COOKy): 86.1 -0.1% q
Crafting Yield (TWIRP-S-CRFTy): 100.6 -0.3% q
Farming Yield (TWIRP-S-FARMy): 117.6 +4.3% p
Firemaking Affordability (TWIRP-S-FMa): 107.4 -4.0% q
Fishing Income (TWIRP-S-FISHi): 101.8 +0.7% p
Fletching Yield (TWIRP-S-FLTy): 98.6 +3.8% p
Herblore Yield (TWIRP-S-HERBy): 111.5 +0.8% p
Hunter Income (TWIRP-S-HUNTi): 106.7 -0.1% q
Magic Affordability (TWIRP-S-MAGICa): 97.5 -1.0% q
Mining Income (TWIRP-S-MNGi): 101.4 +1.5% p
Prayer Affordability (TWIRP-C-PRAYa): 107.8 +3.0% p
Runecrafting Yield (TWIRP-S-RCy): 93.0 +1.5% p
Slayer Yield (TWIRP-C-SLAYy): 91.2 -3.5% q
Smithing Yield (TWIRP-S-SMITy): 97.1 -0.7% q
Thieving Income (TWIRP-S-THVi): 92.2 -1.5% q
Woodcutting Income (TWIRP-S-WCi): 87.6 +2.1% p

Farming was the big winner this week, helped by dropping seed prices and increased demand from herblorists; it is currently the highest skill index since TWIRP began, by a large amount. Fletchers benefitted from a 10% drop in bow string prices, something I think likely to correct itself quickly, while a drop in bone prices helped Prayer.

On the flip side, Construction got hit again as mentioned in the winners and losers discussion. Much of this continues to be a result of items still recovering from past Grand Exchange limitations, though there was also an odd spike in mahogany plank prices. Firemaking was hurt by rising log prices, while Cooking stabilized after several weeks of declines.
