TWIRP Report and Economic Analysis - Week of February 4, 2008 This is the TWIRP report covering price changes and economic trends for the week of February 4, 2008. Please read on for a summary of TWIRP index results, and be sure to check out the subsections for more index reports, charts and details. If you are new to TWIRP and have not yet learned about how it works, I recommend reading either the sections Understanding TWIRP and TWIRP Index Details, or the more concise TWIRP Quick Guide. Without that background you may have a hard time understanding this report. Global Composite Yield (TWIRP): 99.2
+1.2% p After the dramatic changes and price moves of the last few weeks, this report shows a bit more stability, as the initial rush of excitement over Summoning dies down. This is reflected in lower crude volatility, and the fact that there were fewer big gainers and losers than in recent weeks. The overall TWIRP Global Composite Yield index corrected from its big drop last week, gaining 1.2%, largely due to combat yield increases. The big news in RuneScape is still Summoning, of course, though the tone has shifted. In fact, many recent trendssuch as the surge in combat activityhave slowed down or even corrected. Some of these are undoubtedly due to Jagexs announcement that the second part of the skill would be delayed. The economy continues to be hampered by the Grand Exchangeor more specifically, Jagexs insistence on using it to socially engineer the game through price floors and ceilings, and other trade restrictions. It is hard to really gauge what is going on in several areas, and there were more items deadlocked this week than there had been in a while (perhaps part of the reason why prices were so relatively stable?) February looks to be a quiet month, the highlight of which should be a Farming-related minigame. It will be interesting to see what impact this has on prices, because seeds continue to drop in price, and are at historic low prices. In fact, many herb seeds that used to be valuable in the past (toadflax, irit leaf, avantoe) have dropped all the way down into leave it on the ground territory. Herblore followed suit to some extent, the only distortion being guam leaf, which is being affected by Summoning. The new minigame may make seeds easier to get, but is that really going to help farmers much? Well see.
For more indexes, reports and analysis, be sure to read the subsections below. Otherwise, see you next week.
