Synopsis of Price and Economic Trends

This past week saw a bit of a slump in RuneScape’s markets, with the TWIRP Global Composite Yield index dropping 1.5% to 97.5. The biggest factor in this decline was a spike in combat supplies costs, causing the Combat Composite (TWIRP-C) to drop by 3.2%; in contrast, skills were roughly neutral. The Key Items Affordability index also drooped, by 1.4%, on rising supplies costs, which ran the gamut from food and potions to ranging ammo.

Many of the trends in recent weeks seemed to persist, once again, though there were a few surprises. The seemingly never-ending drops in seed prices continued when examined on the whole, though there was some rebounding in higher-level seeds. The prices of many key types of equipment went down, yet treasure trail items increased.

With the recent overhaul of Bounty Hunter, it should be interesting to see if next week’s report will show movement in any of the goods most commonly used by PKers. It doesn’t seem likely that the new Farming minigame will have much of an influence on the market, due to the low value of its rewards, but of course, this could change if Jagex tweaks it.
