Synopsis of Price and Economic Trends

As I predicted last week, the “quieting down” trend continued into this second week of February. With the rest of the Summoning skill postponed, and no major interesting updates in the works for this month, most players seem to be in a holding pattern, or have returned to the activities they preferred before the new skill came out.

The overall TWIRP Global Composite Yield index was down slightly, by 0.3%, at 99.9. This drop was a result mostly of yield losses in skills, as TWIRP-S dropped 1.7%, while combat yield went up 0.7%. This is also only the second week since I started TWIRP that we’ve seen the number of advancing items close to the number of decliners (though the losers still beat the winners, to mix a metaphor.)

Part of the reason for the quiet economy is undoubtedly the fact that many prices are stuck on the G.E. and many items aren’t trading. There’s still been no word from Jagex on whether any plans to change the trade mechanisms are in the works.

Note that I may switch TWIRP from weekly reports to monthly ones at the end of February. This will depend on how much movement I see in the economy, and on feedback about whether people really care about seeing these updates weekly as opposed to monthly. They take a lot of work and time that I might better apply to other projects.
