Synopsis of Price and Economic Trends

It was another fairly quiet week in RuneScape. There were two updates: a minor expansion of the treasure trail system, and the release of a beta of the Grand Exchange online database. The former was mostly met by yawns from players, while the latter tool will be of particular value to those who want to check prices in the game, and especially to me in preparing TWIRP reports.

The overall TWIRP composite decreased slightly for the third week in a row, and is now sitting at 94.5. Skillers did better than fighters once again, though the moves were less pronounced than the last time around. Prices rose, on the whole, with the index of key item affordability dropping by 0.7%.

Interest in the Fist of Guthix minigame appears to have peaked and declined, but the continued high demand for maging gear suggests it is maintaining a high level of background interest. There’s also been a big move up in mithril ore, and item that had been driven down in recent weeks due to it being dropped in large quantities by monsters in the Stronghold of Player Safety. This suggests a substantial move of F2P players away from that dungeon.

Due to the availability of the Grand Exchange database, I have this week discontinued publishing individual item prices: these large tables were clogging my source document and also increasing the time needed to make my reports. I’ve also stopped reporting player profile indexes, because they were tracking the composite indexes almost exactly. I am continuing to maintain the data for them in case this changes in the future.

For more indexes, reports and analysis, be sure to read the subsections below. Otherwise, see you next week.
