TWIRP Minigame Indexes Report and Analysis (2008/04/28)

This page looks at changes in the affordability or income obtained from various item-related RuneScape minigames. For further information on these indexes, please see TWIRP Minigame Indexes; if you are not familiar with TWIRP at all, please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide before going further.

Barrows Yield (TWIRP-M-BARy): 80.0 -5.8% qq
Impetuous Impulses Income (TWIRP-M-IMPi): 98.0 +0.2% p
Fishing Trawler Income (TWIRP-M-TRAWi): 95.7 +2.3% p
Kingdom of Miscellania Income (TWIRP-M-MISCi): 99.1 +0.8% p
Mage Training Arena Yield (TWIRP-M-MTAy): 82.6 -3.0% q
Treasure Trails Income (TWIRP-M-TTi): 102.6 +1.0% p

Ever since TWIRP began, I’ve been noting with considerable confusion the big drop in the value of Mage Training Arena items, never really able to understand why the MTA index was plumetting week after well. Well, I finally found out: it seems some twit developed a bot that allows cheaters to macro their way through the arena, essentially earning infinity robes and other items for free. This is likely the reason that the value of these items dropped for many weeks earlier in the year. The bot was recently discovered and blocked, which in turn is likely why the MTA index recovered. I am told that the battle between this cheat programmer and Jagex is continuing, and so this index will likely be volatile for some time.

In other areas, Barrows had a poor week due to drops in prices of blood runes, chaos runes and all of the Barrows sets. The other minigames did decently, though.
