Minigames are a part of RuneScape
that some partake in for fun, some use to get items, and some use for
both purposes. Since TWIRP is about item prices, it is the ones that
either require items to participate or that produce items as output
that are most relevant here. I have created indexes for several of these,
and incorporated them into the player profiles and higher-level indexes
based on their popularity.
Here are the minigame indexes:
Barrows Yield (TWIRP-M-BARy): This index
indicates the relative profitability trend of the popular Barrows combat
minigame. This is a simple ratio of the average value of Barrows chest
rewards to the typical costs of doing Barrows runs.
Impetuous Impulses Income (TWIRP-M-IMPi):
This minigame requires little in the way of items to play, so I measure
the average value of the items obtained from it.
Fishing Trawler Income (TWIRP-M-TRAWi):
Here we have a relatively simple index that tracks the value of fish
obtained from the trawler. It is heavily weighted towards higher-level
fish, since getting sea turtles and manta rays is the major benefit
of using the trawler.
Kingdom of Miscellania Income (TWIRP-M-MISCi):
This index measures the relative value of the output from the Kingdom
of Miscellania feature. I did a lot of analysis to determine the popularity
of the different kingdom features and weighted the items produced accordingly.
Mage Training Arena Yield (TWIRP-M-MTAy):
This is a yield index showing the relative profitability of training
at the Mage Training Arena. The inputs here are runes used to earn pizazz
points, while the output is tied heavily to the value of expensive MTA
rewards like infinity robes and mage's books.
Treasure Trails Income (TWIRP-M-TTi):
Finally, this index measures the approximate value of treasure trail
(clue scroll) rewards.
These indexes are used in higher-level
indexes and profiles. Which ones they are used for depends on who typically
plays the minigames:
Skill-Specific Minigames: Impetuous Impulses
and Fishing Trawler are skill-specific and so used in indexes related
to skilling.
Combat-Specific Minigames: Barrows and
Treasure Trails are combat-related and make up a part of combat indexes.
Both: The Kingdom of Miscellania and Mage
Training Arena can be used by both skillers and fighters.
Note that there is no composite (overall)
minigame index, because I felt that such a measurement wouldn't be accurate,
for at least three reasons. First, I do not index all minigames. Second,
some minigames are skill-related while others are combat-related. And
finally, the minigames are all so different from each other that I simply
didn't think an aggregate index would mean much.
