The TWIRP composites are the highest-level
indexes, representing the broadest measures of the state of RuneScape
prices and their impact on players. These are the indexes that best
provide an "at a glance" indication of how the economy is faring.
The five composite indexes are as
follows:
Global Composite Yield (TWIRP): This is
the very highest level index, meant to incorporate the pricing and weighting
information from all of the subordinate indexes and items below it.
It aims to represent the impact of item price changes on an average
RuneScape player, taking into account everything that this system tracks.
The Global Composite Yield is the main TWIRP index figure, thus it is
abbreviated simply as "TWIRP".
It is computed by multiplying the Global Composite Income Index (TWIRPi)
by the Global Composite Affordability (TWIRPa).
Global Composite Income (TWIRPi): The
other part of Global Composite Yield, this index measures the total
change in the value of all items created by players using skills or
obtained through other methods (drops, minigames and so forth). Higher
levels represent increases in the value of output.
Global Composite Affordability (TWIRPa):
One component of the Global Composite Yield Index, this index measures
the total change in the affordability of all items purchased by players
in the game. A higher level means items have become more affordable
(cost has gone down); a lower level means items have become more expensive.
Skill Composite Yield (TWIRP-S): This
measurement shows the relative yield of all non-combat skills in the
game, aggregating most of the individual skill yield index information.
It does not include the Prayer and Slayer skills, since they are combat-specific,
nor does it include other indexes like minigames or special items.
Combat Composite Yield (TWIRP-C): The
complement of the previous entry, this index measures the relative yield
of combat-related activities in the game. This includes the Prayer and
Slayer skills, but again, not any other indexes like minigames. It is
weighted heavily towards melee, since that continues to be the most
common combat style.
