On this page I examine price trends related to RuneScape combat, through a set of affordability and drop value indexes. Combat affordability measures the ability of combatants to get the gear and supplies they need, and is broken down mainly by combat style. Drop value indexes gauge the economic gain from fighting monsters, showing changes in the value of drops of different monster levels and categories of items.

Food Affordability (TWIRP-C-FOODa): 88.2 +3.3% p
Potion Affordability (TWIRP-C-POTa): 94.6 +8.3% pp
Miscellaneous Item Affordability (TWIRP-C-MISCa): 111.0 +2.5% p

Melee Affordability (TWIRP-C-MELa): 95.2 +5.3% pp
Ranged Affordability (TWIRP-C-RNGa): 100.7 +2.4% p
Magic Affordability (TWIRP-C-MAGa): 104.2 +1.6% p

At the risk of repeating myself, here again the effect of strong corrections in the cost/affordability of basic items. The move of 8.3% in potion affordability almost entirely erased last week’s drop.

Here is one place we did not see any sign of correction from last week, with the long-standing trend not only continuing, but accelerating. As I said last week, I think this is going to get not only worse, but much worse, especially for high-end equipment. Look for big changes when CoinShare comes out, and especially if and when the Grand Exchange is fixed.

Allotment Seed Drop Value (TWIRP-C-DROP-ASEED): 79.0 -1.8% q

Mostly minor changes here, except that herb prices are on the move once again. I think they are going to continue to drop, for what that’s worth. Allotment seeds continue to quietly drift lower, and herb seeds have resumed their downward march (despite the scaremongering of opponents of Vinesweeper.)
