TWIRP Combat and Monster Drop Value Indexes Report and Analysis (2008/02/11) On this page I examine price trends related to RuneScape combat, through a set of affordability and drop value indexes. Combat affordability measures the ability of combatants to get the gear and supplies they need, and is broken down mainly by combat style. Drop value indexes gauge the economic gain from fighting monsters, showing changes in the value of drops of different monster levels and categories of items. For further information on these indexes, please see TWIRP Combat Affordability and Drop Value Indexes; if you are not familiar with TWIRP at all, please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide before proceeding. Food Affordability (TWIRP-C-FOODa):
100.3 +1.7% p
Finally a reasonably stable week when it comes to combat affordability, with most indexes here showing small gains. Food affordability increased, but based on the recent upticks in raw fish prices, that may not continue. Monster Drop Value (Low-Level) [TWIRP-C-DROP(l)]:
98.5 -0.9% q
We may see the start of an interesting trend here, with boss monster drop values going down even as other monster drop values increase. This was the first week in a while that Bandos armor went down in value. Godswords are also likely overdue for price drops, but appear to be frozen in price by Jagex. Gem Drop Value (TWIRP-C-DROP-GEM):
101.7 +11.0% ppp
One look at the orange lines should give you a pretty good idea of how whacky the herb market has been since the start of the year. There is little doubt in my mind that rampant price speculation and manipulation is taking place in the herb market. Herb seed prices continue to drop, with no real end in sight, though at least the high-level herb seeds seem to be leveling off (if at very low levels).
