TWIRP Combat and Monster Drop Value Indexes Report and Analysis (2008/02/04) On this page I examine price trends related to RuneScape combat, through a set of affordability and drop value indexes. Combat affordability measures the ability of combatants to get the gear and supplies they need, and is broken down mainly by combat style. Drop value indexes gauge the economic gain from fighting monsters, showing changes in the value of drops of different monster levels and categories of items. For further information on these indexes, please see TWIRP Combat Affordability and Drop Value Indexes; if you are not familiar with TWIRP at all, please refer to the TWIRP Quick Guide before proceeding. Food Affordability (TWIRP-C-FOODa):
98.6 +1.2% p
Continuing with the correction theme for this week, combat affordability indexes were up after deep losses last week. (I was incorrect in saying that the prior trend would continue; in my defence, I didnt expect Jagex to postpone half the Summoning skill!) Monster Drop Value (Low-Level) [TWIRP-C-DROP(l)]:
99.4 +2.3% p
Drop values also corrected, especially for low-level players; this is heavily skewed by the big increase in herb drop values (see below.) Gem Drop Value (TWIRP-C-DROP-GEM):
91.7 +6.7% pp
If you like volatility, herbs are where its at! And in fact, I feel rather confident that many price manipulators and merchants are having a field day with these on the Grand Exchange. Overall, though, I think the trend on herbs is to head down in the next few weeks. Otherwise, herb seeds continue to slump (now down over 60% in one month!) and gems recovered from a steep drop last week.
