RuneScape Item Advertising Scams and False Claims One rather annoying (and lame) category of scammers are those who try to trick you out of money just by how they advertise items for sale. These people will try to sell you garbage for high prices, or claim that items are rare when they aren't. Some have even developed elaborate schemes with teams of friends who work together to try to trick you. In this section I'll describe some of the common ways that scammers try to get you to buy worthless junk or overpay for items that are useful but not expensive. I include a list of the most common junk items that scammers try to sell as valuable, and discuss why and how people overpay for new items. I also show you how to avoid falling for team advertising scams, and for the relatively new scam that tries to trick you into making arithmetic errors when buying a large quantity of items. Remember that you can make yourself immune to all of the scams in this subsection by remembering one easy rule: don't buy an item unless you are sure of what it does and what it's worth. Do your homeworkon the RuneScape forums or third-party sitesand never just accept the claims of the person selling an item.
