RuneScape Con Games - How Scammers Earn Your Trust and Then Betray You You've probably heard the term con man before, which is synonymous with scammer. But did you ever wonder what the word con really means? You might be surprised to learn that it is an abbreviation for confidenceso a con man is literally a confidence man. This means he is someone who plays a game to scam you by first earning your confidence and trust, and then using that to trick you out of your money. Unfortunately, these scams are very commonplace on RuneScape. Selfish, cruel people are only too happy to take advantage of the good nature and trust of honest folks and then exploit it. Some of these con games are very transparent and easy to see through, but some are truly sneaky and can be very hard to figure out until it's too late. Remember this general rule: never trust anyone with any item you aren't willing to lose. Even if you've known someone on RuneScape for a year, they could still scam you. What if the person is your best friend from real life? Stories of people being scammed by their best friends are also common in the game. Sad, but true. In this subsection I will try to help you avoid falling prey to a con man by describing some of the more common scams they try to pull. Some are based purely on your trust, like trust games, while others involve trying to trick you by promising that you'll get something good if you trust the other person. I also discuss staff impersonation, which is a really obnoxious scam, and the new scams that have sprung up related to player-owned houses and the new godsword.
