Obsolete Item Scams and Scam Avoidance Techniques One of my goals for TruthScape, was to spur changes in the game to remove common scams, making RuneScape a better place to be. I was pleased when, just weeks after launching the site, Jagex began making substantial changes to address various luring problems, which led me to remove the descriptions of several lures and put them in a new Obsolete Lures section. Now, Jagex has also started eliminating item scams that I had documented, which I will put here. The change that led to the creation of this section occurred on September 10, 2007, when Jagex removed all unidentified herbs from the game, replacing them with grimy herbs that must be cleaned. This still gives Herblore experience, but all herbs are now identified as to what they are, which makes it impossible for anyone to scam another player by misrepresenting what their herbs are. The company also changed unfinished potions so that they say what herb was used to create them, further eliminating confusion. Based on these updates, my section describing scams with unidentified herbs and unfinished potion is, happily, obsolete. The anti-scam method for trading unidentified herbs is also no longer relevant, so I have moved it here as well, for historical purposes. Trading unfinished potions is much safer now, though there are still some things to watch out for, so I have revised the topic on buying unfinished potions, but left it in its original location.
