Lying About Item Value, Rarity or Power As mentioned in the previous topic and the discussion of scams that aren't, RuneScape players can offer any item for sale at any price they want. However, this is on the condition that the seller doesn't lie about the item or misrepresent it in any way. As soon as deception is involved, Rule #2 comes into play, and it is reportable scamming. Many unscrupulous sellers do just try to sell items for silly prices without saying anything, but others will try to improve sales with a bit of dishonesty. Here are a few examples of the gimmicks you may see in trading areas:
As always, the way to avoid these scams is to be knowledgeable and not buy something unless you are sure you know what it is, and what it's worth.
