Herb Patch Locations

There are four spots that Jagex calls “full patches”; these contain an herb patch, flower patch, two allotment patches (for fruits and vegetables) and a compost bin. In addition, there is a fifth herb patch that you can unlock by completing the quest My Arm’s Big Adventure.

Experienced herb farmers know these places well, but if you’re new to the skill I figured you could use a bit of an introduction. J

Catherby Herb Patch

This patch is located a couple of clicks north of the Catherby bank; it is most easily accessed by casting Camelot Teleport and running east. If you are on the Lunar Magicks spellbook, its Catherby Teleport spell is even faster.

The Catherby patch is the most popular of the four patches, because it is close to a teleport, a bank and a farming store. It’s also near the Catherby fishing spot, where many farmers fish while waiting for their crops to grow, and a range for cooking said fish.

Ardougne Herb Patch

This patch is just north of east Ardougne. Teleport to the town (Plague City quest required), then run northwest to the road leading from Ardougne to Seers’ Village. Once you see the sheep pen, go around its northern fence and the patch is right there. An alternative that some find a bit faster is to go east out of the market, then turn north and go past the mine there and take a beeline to the patch. This doesn’t let you pass near a bank, though.

If you’re on Lunar Magicks, the Fishing Guild Teleport spell is a little faster than going through Ardougne.

Port Phasmatys Herb Patch

Click your ectophial to teleport to the Ectonfuntus; use the ectophial on it to refill. Take the northern exit from the Ectofuntus and run west, past the undead chickens and undead cows; the patch is right there.

If you haven’t finished the Ghost Ahoy quest and don’t have an ectophial, getting to this patch is somewhat of an ordeal, and in my opinion, not worth the bother.

Draynor Herb Patch

Some people call this the Falador patch; in fact, it’s between the two towns, but closer to Draynor. The fastest way to get to it is to use an amulet of glory to teleport to Draynor, then run northwest to the road that leads towards Port Sarim. Go west past the wall that separates Port Sarim from Draynor, and you’ll see a cabbage patch to the north, and a stile you can step on to cross into it. Run north through the cabbages to the patch.

If coming from Falador, take the path from near the east bank south out of town, then turn east and continue until you get to the patch.

Troll Stronghold Herb Patch

During the quest My Arm’s Big Adventure, you’ll be introduced to a gardening troll named “My Arm”, and will help him make an herb patch; he’ll then agree to watch another herb patch that you can use, and ensure it never gets diseased. The benefits of this are quite obvious: 25% more production per run, and no need to worry about disease! The drawback is that getting to the patch is a bit of a hassle. The only practical way of getting there requires the Trollheim Teleport spell, which also has its own quest requirement: Eadger’s Ruse. So you really need to complete both if you want to use this patch regularly.

To get to the patch, cast Trollheim Teleport; you arrive at the top of Trollheim. Run down off the mountain, heading towards the west; there are numerous Agility shortcuts you can use to aid you (level 43 to 47 required). Go south, around a “U-bend” and then north, towards the path that curves west to the entrance to the troll stronghold (Figure 187).

Figure 187: Entrance to the Stronghold

Lower-level players should be cautious before proceeding as there are lots of trolls in the stronghold. As an aside, how long does it take for the Drunken Dwarf’s smashed beer to evaporate, anyway? J

Once in the stronghold, run south, then open the door to your west, go through it and run north. You’ll find a “troll ladder” going up; climb it and you’re on the roof of the stronghold. Head north and you’ll find the patch near My Arm’s.

Be warned that you will go past aggressive trolls in getting to the patch. High-level players can just absorb the damage, but lower-level players may wish to ensure they have enough Prayer points to slap on Protection from Melee for a short time. Do not wear armor for this—it’s not necessary and will slow you down.
