Getting Herblore XP from Quests

Using quests to get Herblore XP can’t really be considered “training”, since there are only a few of them, and you can only do each once. They can provide a nice experience boost, though, either to get you started on the skill, or to help you reach a particular level goal.

There are an even dozen RuneScape quests that have Herblore XP rewards. Some of these you may already have done, either because you like quests, or to get access to some Herblore-related content that the quests unlock. If not, the XP alone may be enough of a reason to consider doing them.

Here are the quests, listed in increasing order of the amount of XP rewarded:

  • Druidic Ritual (250 XP): Of course, this quest is mandatory to start the Herblore skill, so all herblorists have already done it.

  • Jungle Potion (775 XP): A simple quest that introduces you to the jungle herbs; it is also a prerequisite for many other quests.

  • Recruitment Drive (1,000 XP): This is an easy quest normally done to gain access to initiate armor.

  • Heroes Quest (1,825 XP): One of the most famous quests in the game, and one that many players train Herblore just to be able to do.

  • Digsite Quest (2,000 XP): This quest provides a decent Herblore XP reward, a bigger Mining XP reward (15,300) and is also a prerequisite for the Varrock Museum minigame.

  • Shades of Mort'ton (2,000 XP): Worth doing to unlock Serum 207 potions and the Shades of Mort’ton minigame, in addition to the XP reward.

  • Zogre Flesh Eaters (2,000 XP): Another quest with Herblore-specific content, in this case Relicym’s balm.

  • Land of the Goblins (3,000 XP): This quest has a long chain of prerequisites in the cave goblin storyline.

  • A Fairy Tale, Part II (3,500 XP): Best known for enabling access to the fairy ring network, the quest also shows you how to make magic essence potions.

  • Grim Tales (5,000 XP): You’ll use your Herblore skills in this quest, but it doesn’t unlock new content. The XP reward is sizeable, though.

  • My Arm's Big Adventure (10,000 XP): In addition to the nice XP reward, this quest also gives you access to a new herb patch for Farming that never succumbs to disease, which is handy for herblorists who grow their own herbs.

  • Eadgar's Ruse (11,000 XP): This is the best Herblore-specific XP reward of all the quests. You also get access to the goutweed minigame for getting herbs, if that interests you (though I’m not sure why it would!)

In addition to these, there are also several quests that give “player choice” rewards that can be used for any skill. You could choose to apply these to Herblore if you need XP in it, but to be honest, I think that would be a waste—there are several other skills that are much more time-consuming, expensive or annoying to train than Herblore, and would be better places to use the “wildcard” XP rewards.
