Dagannoth King Luring Far below Waterbirth Island, in the deepest level of one of RuneScape's deadliest dungeons, lies the lair of the dreaded Dagannoth Kings. This is the setting of one of the game's most epic battlesand one of its most dangerous lures. High-level players are drawn to the Dagannoth Kings for two main reasons: the challenge they represent, and the valuable items they drop. The latter includes the much sought-after dragon woodcutting axe, the mage-killing Seercull Bow, the mud staff for mages, and a set of four valuable rings for all combat classes. Jagex doesn't make these rewards come cheap, however: those who would hunt the Kings must traverse a dangerous, confusing dungeon to get to their lair. Once they enter it, they are faced with three deadly foes: Dagannoth Prime, Dagannoth Rex, and Dagannoth Supreme. Each is level 303 and uses a different form of combat: mage, melee and ranged respectively. They can hit up to 40 damage at a time, and to make matters worse, the lair is a multi-combat area, so more than one can attack a player at once. To top it all off, there are other monsters in the lair as well! As you can see, this is not for the faint of heart. Not only does it take high levels and good equipment to fight the Dagannoth Kings, it also takes strategy. The normal method is to assemble a team that includes at least one experienced King hunter. That person will coordinate the team and ensure that each player attacks the Kings in the right order, and that everyone stands in the spots where they can be most effective. Since all three combat forms are present in the lair, players cannot defend against all of them using prayer. Smart players will use a strategy that involves standing in specific locations that shield them from the King using the form of attack against which they are weakest. For example, if you are wearing melee armor, you are weakest against mage attacks; if you are wearing mage robes, you're weakest against melee. Here's where the luring comes in. Obnoxious jerks will go down into the lair with no intention whatsoever of actually killing the Dagannoth Kingsthey are only there to lure the Kings into a position where they can kill the players who are fighting them. For example, a lurer might try to get the melee King to come close to a player in mage robes who is not prepared to deal with him. (I am not going to describe exactly how this is done, because it only matters to a lurer.) The Kings can kill in only a couple of hits, so this can easily result in players dying. Of course, since these are such difficult foes, players usually bring very expensive equipment, which the lurers then grab and teleport out. Unfortunately, as uncivilized as this behavior is, I am pretty sure that it is not reportable. The reason is that the Dagannoth King killers go into a very dangerous place of their own accord, and so assume the risk of dying. The lurer also has a right to be there, and even though luring a monster over to another player is very cruel, there is no rule against it. Experienced Dagannoth King hunters know about the risk of luring and have some tricks to avoid it. These include careful world selection, choosing times that are less busy, and trying not to advertise where and when they will be going. If you are interested in this activity, my recommendation is to find a group of regular King killers to team up with. They will be able to provide you with tips and ideas for avoiding death both due to lurers and the Kings themselves.
