Common Ways Players Get Hacked Outside the RuneScape Game Avoiding getting your account scammed within RuneScape is as simple as never telling anyone in the game your password. But avoiding account scamming outside the game isn't quite that easythere are many different tricks that hackers will try to use on innocent players (and some who aren't quite so innocent). It's true that you should never tell anyone outside the game your password either, but even if you follow that advice, you can give away your account information without realizing it if you aren't careful. In this subsection I'll describe to you some of the bad mistakes players make in their activities outside the RuneScape game, which sometimes lead to their accounts being stolen. Some of these may come about by trying to cheat, while others are due to poor security practices. We'll look at the risks posed by account sharing and trading, inadequate password management, using shared unsecured computers, visiting scam web sites, clicking links in bogus emails, installing third-party software and more. Remember that you should never enter your RuneScape password on any site other than www.runescape.com - that includes even third-party fan sites that you trust. Use a different password for other sites like fan forums, for example. The same goes for other important account information, especially your bank PIN.
