Training with Barbarian Mix Potions Training by Cleaning Grimy Herbs

While making potions is the biggest part of training in Herblore, it is definitely not the only way. If you don’t like making potions, or perhaps you’re tired of it and ready for a change, there are a few other ideas you should explore. Some of these are very effective methods for training, while others are not, but at the very least they will inject a bit of variety into your training routine—and maybe save you some money, too.

I’ll show you several alternative ways of getting Herblore XP, which you can use to either complement or supplant potion-based training. This includes cleaning grimy herbs as a training method, making herb tars (especially harralander tars), and a method for making super fishing explosive (which isn’t used like a potion but is made in the same way as one). I’ll also list for you quests that you can do to earn Herblore XP, and discuss how to use the Assist System to help others while gaining experience.

Note that there are also minigames and special features that give Herblore XP not directly, but indirectly in the form of herb rewards. Some of these also give Herblore XP by virtue of the herbs they provide being grimy and needing to be cleaned.
